Step into the timeless landscape surrounding Monte Pulchiana — Sardinia’s largest granite monolith — on this scenic loop hike starting from Agriturismo La Cerra, in the countryside of Tempio Pausania. Follow an ancient charcoal-makers’ trail where circular clearings (chee) still mark the memory of a rural past. The route crosses a high granite plateau, surrounded by surreal rock formations and steeped in an almost mystical silence — a place suspended between earth and sky. Toward the end of the loop, reach the base of Monte Pulchiana, where the remarkable conche fraicate — natural granite shelters once used by shepherds — are hidden among the boulders. At sunset (5PM hike option), the landscape becomes especially magical, and you’ll have the option to enjoy a traditional Sardinian dinner at the agriturismo.
