This hike explores the majestic Monte Limbara, Sardinia’s second-highest mountain range, on a scenic loop starting from Vallicciola. The trail winds through dense forests — including a unique sequoia grove — and can be adapted in difficulty and distance, thanks to a mix of forest roads and traditional hiking paths. Along the way, hikers encounter a variety of endemic species, from ancient chestnut trees to regenerating yews in the highland environment. The route spans all major slopes of the massif, offering 360° views and a rare subalpine atmosphere, unexpected in Sardinia.
